About the BVI Chamber of Commerce

The BVI Chamber of Commerce (BVICoC) is the leading voice of business in the British Virgin Islands. We are committed to promoting economic growth, advocating for a healthy and enabling business environment, and empowering private sector development. As we embark on a period of strategic repositioning, we are seeking a results-driven and visionary Executive Director to lead the organization through this critical phase of transformation.


The Role

This is a six-month full-time consultancy opportunity for a seasoned leader to provide strategic direction and operational management for the Chamber. The Executive Director will work closely with the Board of Directors to stabilize internal operations, engage stakeholders, strengthen member services, and increase the Chamber’s visibility and impact.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Governance

  • Lead the daily operations of the Chamber in alignment with strategic objectives.

  • Provide monthly progress and performance reports to the Board.

Operational & Financial Management

  • Oversee Chamber administration, staffing, and program implementation.

  • Identify funding opportunities and drive financial sustainability initiatives.

Stakeholder Engagement & Advocacy

  • Represent the Chamber in meetings with government, business, and community partners.

  • Coordinate advocacy on behalf of the business community.

Membership & Program Development

  • Propose strategies for member recruitment and retention.

  • Review and advise on the Business Bootcamp initiative.

  • Plan and coordinate the Buy BVI Trade Expo 2025.


Deliverables

  • A 6-month strategic action plan with defined KPIs.

  • A final report outlining achievements, challenges, and recommendations.

  • Execution of at least one major initiative (e.g., Trade Expo or Business Bootcamp strategy).


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Public Administration, or a related field (Master’s preferred).

  • Minimum 5 years’ leadership experience in a business association, NGO, or public agency.

  • Deep understanding of the BVI’s economic and business environment.

  • Proven record in stakeholder engagement, financial oversight, and program delivery.

  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills.


Working Conditions

  • Full-time commitment with a mix of remote and on-site work.

  • Occasional evening engagements for events or stakeholder meetings.


Compensation

  • Competitive consultancy fee commensurate with experience and qualifications.


Performance & Transition

  • Performance reviews will be conducted monthly and at the end of the contract.

  • Subject to mutual agreement and Board approval, there is potential for transition into a permanent Executive Director role.
